The Guitar Studio Talk at the University of North Texas College of Music

On Thursday, April 25, 2024 The Guitar Studio owners, Will and Courtney Douglas gave a presentation to the guitar performance department at the UNT College of Music on the history of the shop from what brought TGS founder, Michael Dailey to Fort Worth to its current place in the Fort Worth Community, and on how to start and run a music business. Will spoke on the 40+ year history of the The Guitar Studio, the role of understanding your community, how music degrees can inform career direction in today's market, how relationships and the philosophy of curriculum design influence student retention, and our wonderful partnership with Altamira Guitars. Courtney spoke on the mechanics of starting a business, how to protect your personal assets, building a business plan, and the hidden challenges of running a business. The talk was followed by a Q&A with the audience. The Guitar Studio is grateful to guitar department chair, Dr. Bokyung Byun for her gracious invitation and to the whole of the UNT Guitar Department for being such an enthusiastic and engaged group.
