Bio
"Scott began taking piano lessons from his mother at the age of 7. He became interested in electric bass after being introduced to bands like Red Hot Chili Peppers, John Mayer, and Dave Matthews Band. However, he began playing guitar at the age of 13 when he wanted to help with the music in his church. He played guitar for the high school jazz band, the jazz combo “Shades of Blue,” and would accompany peers at various show-cases and competitions. Scott also studied jazz guitar with Dr. Matthew Dunne over the course of two summers.
He completed a Bachelor of Music in Performance at Texas Baptist College under the instruction of Tom Burchill and Dr. Will Douglas, where he performed in the jazz combo, guitar ensemble, and various choirs while also serving and leading church worship teams. While at TBC, Scott had the opportunity to play in master classes with Tom Johnson, Dr. Andrew Zohn, and Emma Rush.
He has since continued to play guitar for churches and different events, was part of Trinity Western University’s production of Bright Star in 2022, and has been teaching guitar lessons in various capacities since 2014. He enjoys teaching music and inspiring a love for learning in his students. Scott is currently pursuing a Masters of Music in Guitar Performance and Pedagogy at Southwestern Seminary with Dr. Will Douglas, where he had the unique opportunity to play in a masterclass for Christopher Parkening.
